During an apartment clearance in Darmstadt, a supposed doll was found, which later turned out to be a corpse. The public prosecutor’s office is currently not assuming a violent crime.
Actually, the freight forwarders only wanted to clear out an apartment – and involuntarily became corpse carriers: When clearing an apartment in Darmstadt, a freight forwarding company accidentally took a corpse with it and stored it.
The movers thought the dead man was a mannequin. As a spokesman for the public prosecutor’s office confirmed on Monday at the request of t-online, the error was only discovered about two months later in a storage room of the furniture company, when the supposed “doll” began to decompose.
According to the public prosecutor’s office, it was not possible to finally clarify exactly when the tenant died. “We assume that at the time of the evacuation there were no significant signs of decomposition,” said Robert Hartmann, press spokesman for the Darmstadt public prosecutor’s office.
So far, no evidence of a violent crime
An autopsy revealed that the dead man was the tenant of the apartment. According to the public prosecutor’s office, he had to clear the house, a bailiff had commissioned the forwarding agency. The reason for this is not known to the public prosecutor. So far there is no criminal law background.
Investigators believe the man committed suicide or died of natural causes. There was no evidence of a violent crime. The cause of death has not been finally clarified. Several media had reported on the case.
