The International Football Federation (Fifa) launched on Saturday, February 20 in Kinshasa, the project of organizing a school championship in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) which will be replicated throughout Africa.
The project was inaugurated by the President of FIFA, Gianni Infantino in the presence of the Head of State of the DRC Félix Tshisekedi, current President of the African Union (AU).
“Today we launched a project for a competition, a school championship here (in the DRC) but we will replicate that throughout Africa from (the Congolese experience) because education, schools and football has to be in symbiosis, “Gianni Infantino told reporters.
Friday, the president of the umbrella body of world football inaugurated in Brazzaville, at the headquarters of the Congolese Football Federation (Fécofoot), the regional development office of FIFA for Central Africa.
The opening of the said regional office takes place in application of the headquarters agreement, signed on November 29, 2019, between the Congolese government and FIFA.
The president of Fifa began an African tour on Tuesday which led him in particular to Nouakchott (Mauritania), Bangui (RCA), Brazzaville (Congo) and Kinshasa (DRC).
