Dresden – Shock for 43 employees and many hungry train passengers: The Marché im dresden Central station closes on Monday. The restaurant also includes the “Burger King” and the “Natural Bakery”. It is still unclear whether there will be a successor.
The employees are said to have only found out about the closure on Tuesday, apparently it was about increasing the lease.
Deutsche Bahn officially confirms that there is no new lease with the restaurant complex: “The lease is expiring, it has not been terminated,” said a company spokesman when asked by TAG24.
“We are in negotiations to win an attractive new tenant in the catering sector.”

The complex, which opened in 2006, will close on Monday: “The reason for the closure is the expiring lease,” confirmed a spokeswoman for the chain. “In addition, the sharp drop in travel and commuter traffic due to the corona pandemic has contributed to the fact that long-term economic planning security for the location cannot be guaranteed.”
The 43 employees affected were offered comparable jobs in Berlin or Leipzig.
