It starts with a concert by “Rheingold” in June, followed by the other three parts year after year. Music is played on historical instruments and sung in the style of the Wagner era. The project, headed by artistic director Jan Vogler and conductor Kent Nagano, aims to bring Wagner experts and performers from all over the world together in Dresden. The new Dresden “Ring” and the associated musicological research will have a lasting influence on the reception and interpretation of Richard Wagner’s work, said Vogler.
