Drop in donations in April, the EFS calls on citizens to mobilize

As the month of May approaches, marked by several public holidays conducive to long bridges, the EFS La Réunion – Océan Indien is once again calling on citizens to mobilize to get through this sensitive period.

The level of reserves was weakened by the drop in attendance at blood drives throughout the month of April. Infectious episodes (seasonal flu) strongly affect donors, who are then temporarily contraindicated to donate.

Platelet reserves are impossible to build up in advance: this product, made from blood donations, is vital for the sick or injured in a haemorrhagic situation, but it has a lifespan of only 7 days.

To go to a donation site, alone, with friends or family, simply make an appointment on dondesang.efs.sante.fr or the Blood Donation app. You will find all the information on donations and collection locations, as well as a questionnaire to find out if you can donate. The main conditions for donating: be between 18 and 70 years old and weigh at least 50 kg and bring proof of identity.
