A 31-year-old Dutchman died on Thursday afternoon on the Spanish island of Mallorca when diving off a cliff. This is reported by Spanish media and is confirmed by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs. His partner filmed the accident and his son also witnessed.
On video images published by the local newspaper Majorca Newspaper, shows the man diving off a high cliff. He seems to have miscalculated and crashes into a protruding rock, after which he falls into water.
The accident happened around 1.30pm on Thursday in the Malgrats Islands off the west side of Mallorca. According to the newspaper, the Dutchman was at least 25 meters high. The accident was filmed by his girlfriend from a boat, his son was standing next to her at the time and saw his father die.
The man was searched for on Thursday with a boat and a helicopter. His body, according to the Spanish news agency EFE have since been located by divers. De Gelderlander reports that it would be a resident of Arnhem.
