EC Red Bull Salzburg: Young Eisbullen celebrate their last test match victory before the start of the Champions League

17-year-old Luca Auer made her debut in a 4-2 win against Kolin.

Before the season really starts for the Eisbullen on Friday with the Champions League away game against Norwegian club Frisk Asker, they played one last test match in the Czech Republic on Saturday. The Salzburg team prevailed against second division HC Kolin 4-2.

Since coach Matt McIlvane was missing no less than eight national team players, he gave his young talents a chance again. Striker Luca Auer (17 years old) and defender Joona Lehmus (19) from Red Bull Hockey Juniors celebrated their professional debut. In the lead, the Salzburg then shot the experienced newcomer TJ Brennan, who scored his fourth pre-season goal against Kolin. After the Czechs equalized, the young Austrians Philipp Wimmer (19) and Tim Harnisch (20) made it 3-1 ahead of the final third. There Benjamin Nissner increased to 4: 1, Kolin could only shorten by one goal.

“That was an exciting game in which Kolin acted very physically and hard. Overall, it was great fun to watch the boys. They got important ice ages and did their job well,” said coach McIlvane. “Preparing for the Champions Hockey League with a win obviously feels good.”

HC Kolin – EC Red Bull Salzburg 2:4 (0:1, 1:2, 1:1).
Goals: Vesely (28th / PP), Sklenar (56th) and Brennan (17th), Wimmer (31st), Harnisch (40th), Nissner (54th).
