Elections 2023: how the candidacy of Fernán Quirós fell within Together for Change

The Qatar World Cup it does not loosen the internal ones, at most it makes them less visible. Although expected, the launch this thursday of Fernan Quiros as a candidate for goverment’s head from the City of Buenos Aires, sponsored by Horacio Rodríguez Larreta, once again shook Together for Change. but above all shook the PROafter Mauricio Macri and Patricia Bullrich, to mark the field for the Buenos Aires president, will promote the Jorge Macri’s candidacy.

The former president’s cousin was “freezed” in the management of CABA and his relationship with Rodríguez Larreta was seriously hurt. Radicalism, which drives Martin Lousteau, continues with relief the crosses of the PRO, while the Civic Coalition shows more and more signs of rapprochement with the head of Government and his presidential aspirations.

“All public servants have to be willing to collaborate in caring for the community. For that reason, I have made the decision to prepare myself to be able to compete for the head of government of next year”, Quirós, Buenos Aires Minister of Health, said this Thursday morning at a press conference with Larreta.

True to his style, the current head of government tried make it clear that you do not support any candidate today: recognized the Minister of Education, Soledad Acunaas another possible competitor, and even referred to Jorge Macri, “He is someone who has a lot of experience, he comes from doing very good management at Vicente López and he joins our team”, and also Martín Lousteau.

The former president’s cousin is a Buenos Aires government minister. “He is totally frozen in the City, the relationship was terrible with Horacio and more with the team from the photo he took with Bullrich, to fart. Not even the City photographer let him, ”he told TN one of Rodríguez Larreta’s political armadores.

Jorge Macri’s launch was a coordinated play between Mauricio Macri and Patricia Bullrichwho look with suspicion at the good bond that Rodríguez Larreta maintains with Lousteau, and where they accuse the president of wanting to hand over the City to radicalism in pursuit of his national arming.

“Jeorge hurried. He did not add anything to the photo with Bullrich because Mauricio had already given him explicit support, and they share an audience. A Quirós lacks many qualities as a candidate and as head of government, but he has a huge positive image in the polls and it can be the most competitive ”, they interpreted at this time in the Buenos Aires Government.

Jorge Macri did not stay still. This same Thursday afternoon shared an educational activity with Soledad Acuñawho met with Mauricio Macri last Friday and, according to PRO sources, would have followed instructions from the former president.

In the environment of the cousin of the former president, they downplayed the launch of Quirós. “It was predictable. It was already known and we are not surprised or worried. The work is with the people. Not in. What is clear is that at STEP We can only go with a PRO candidate. No more than one,” they warned.

Meanwhile in Evolutionthe radical leg headed by Martín Lousteau, celebrate. In a STEP, the pre-candidate with the most votes becomes the JxC candidate, regardless of whether there are three PRO pre-candidates and only one from the UCR. In other words, competing with three candidates would liquefy the PRO and Lousteau’s triumph, with radicalism behind it, would be likely. Neither the “hawks” nor the “doves” of the party foresee that this is the scenario.

“We knew about Quirós, we talked about it and it is not a surprise, for us it is great that JxC has many candidatesthat speaks well of the politics of the City”, they said, perhaps with some malice, in Evolution.

The open support of the Civic Coalition

After Fernán Quirós, to the surprise of no one, confirmed his candidacy for head of government, the civic coalitionbeginning with Elisa Carrió, He came out in a coordinated way to bank him.

“Together with the entire Civic Coalition, I unconditionally support Fernán Quirós’s candidacy for head of government for being a good person, upright, transparent, republican and humanist. For me It is a light that opens for a people that today has a lot of pain and anguish. and who wants decency and well-being for the City of Buenos Aires that I love so much,” he said. Lilith on Twitter, and was followed by the entire front line of the CC, including the president of the party and the head of the bloc in Deputies, Maximiliano Ferraro and Juan Manuel López.

The Civic Coalition has as public position not advance candidacies and so far he has not openly supported any of the Together for Change presidential candidates. In the party they recognize, however, greater “affinity” ideological and discursive with Rodriguez Larreta.

On the other hand, every time Carrió or some CC leader crosses Patricia Bullrich due to some conjunctural position, in the team led by the president of the PRO they are in charge of repeating that Lilita and her leaders “they play for the presidency of Larretawhich is the only one that guarantees them places”.

In the CC they denied that the support for Quirós’s candidacy was the recognition of his belonging to the armed forces of the Buenos Aires president for the 2023 presidential elections. simply a support for a candidate that Lilita had already indicated as the best and it is clearly the one with which all of us in the Civic Coalition feel more comfortable and more represented”, they pointed out in the party.
