The circumstances are not yet determined. The fact remains that the driver of an electric scooter was mortally mowed by a car, in the night from Saturday to Sunday in Bordeaux (Gironde).
The young man, 25 years old, was riding Chartrons quay on a scooter, accompanied by an 18-year-old passenger, reports France 3 Nouvelle Aquitaine.
Around 3 am, a collision occurred with a car. Despite the firefighters' attempts to save him, the victim succumbed to his injuries. His passenger, seriously injured, was taken care of by rescue and transported to the Pellegrin hospital.
Several deaths in recent months
The driver of the car fled the scene after the accident, according to the police cited by France 3. An investigation is opened and witnesses of the scene must be heard during the day.
With the rise of scooters, several fatal accidents are to be deplored in recent months. In Paris, a 25-year-old man lost his life after being hit hard by a van last June.
A scooter driver also died this summer in the Yvelines after committing to … the A86-which is obviously forbidden. Hit by a biker-who has suffered multiple trauma-the driver did not survive.
Last April, this time, it is a scooter that is causing an accident with an octogenarian, fatally mowed in Levallois-Perret (Hauts-de-Seine) while crossing a pedestrian crossing. The trial of the driver of the scooter, a young man of 21 years, is scheduled in April 2020 before the Criminal Court of Nanterre.
