Emergency blackouts in Kharkiv region – Ukrenergo

The Kharkiv region has exceeded the energy consumption limits set for the region by NPC Ukrenergo.

“Already now, the Dispatch Center sees exceeding the limits in ten regions, as a result of which emergency shutdowns are applied in Kharkiv, Donetsk, Zaporozhye, Kirovohrad, Kyiv, Cherkasy, Zhytomyr, Volyn, Lvov, Rivne regions. During the day, emergency shutdowns are also possible in other areas, ”the power engineers reported as of 11 am on January 27.

According to Ukrenergo, the level of electricity consumption in Ukraine remains the same as the day before, which means that the power shortage in the system is significant.

“The attack of the Russians on January 26 caused significant damage to several high-voltage network facilities. However, the energy system is still recovering from the previous series of enemy rocket attacks that caused damage to the power units of power plants. As a result, electricity generation at operating power plants cannot fully cover consumption,” Ukrenergo explains.
