The English group Kantar, specialized in marketing services, studies and consultancy for brands, is going to set up in Porto and is preparing to hire 200 professionals, in an investment of around 4.3 million euros.
Kantar’s objective is to create a regional competence center that, by the end of 2022, should employ recent graduates in the group’s finance, human resources and purchasing areas. In the future, the English group aims to expand the competence center to professionals in the technological area.
Among the reasons that led to the choice of Invicta was the recent success of Porto in attracting and expanding several competence centers. The offer of multilingual talent, together with the city’s technological infrastructure and growing innovative ecosystem, reinforced the decision regarding location.
Ian Griffiths, Kantar Director, commented on the decision to invest in Porto: “In the last two years, Kantar has embarked on a journey of profound transformation. Our investment is a fundamental step in that direction, ensuring adequate support capabilities for the exceptional service it is expected by our customers and ‘stakeholders’. I am excited about the development of these new skills in Porto, which will allow us to support our ambitions for growth.”
Ricardo Valente, councilor responsible for the Economy, Tourism and Commerce of the Porto Chamber, stated that “the decision taken by the Kantar group to locate a new competence center in Porto clearly demonstrates the quality of the talent and ecosystem that the city offers these days. The new highly qualified jobs, which will be created by a world leading company such as Kantar, represent a great opportunity for the people of Porto and for the development of the city.”
Kantar’s bet was facilitated by InvestPorto, a unit of the Porto Chamber created to promote high-value investments for the city’s growth.
The Kantar group established a partnership with the Hays recruitment company to identify and select employees for the new competence centre. The new facilities are expected to start operations by the end of the first half of 2022.
Kantar is a multinational that has 27 thousand employees worldwide, providing services to clients in more than 90 countries. In 2020, it recorded a turnover of more than 2.5 billion euros.
