The Kurdish units of the People’s Self-Defense Force did not withdraw their fighters from northeast Syria, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan claims. According to the Turkish side, they are terrorists.
“On the one hand, we held negotiations, as a result of which the terrorists were given 120 hours to leave, but these (agreements .— "B") were not fulfilled. As part of our agreement with Russia, 150 hours were given, but the terrorists did not leave these territories, ”said Mr. Erdogan (quote from TASS).
According to him, Kurdish formations attack the participants of the Syrian Free Army, which is an ally of the Turkish armed forces.
On October 17, Turkey and the United States agreed to end the military operation in northern Syria for 120 hours, provided that Kurdish formations go beyond the demarcation line 30 km south of the Syrian border with Turkey. On October 22, Russia held talks with Turkey. Presidents Vladimir Putin and Recep Tayyip Erdogan consolidated new zones of influence in northeastern Syria.
More details about the Russian-Turkish negotiations are in the article “Kommersant” “The World to Change the Source of Peace”.
