The European adventure continues for FC Nantes! The Canaries beat Azerbaijani Qarabag 2-1 last night. Thanks to a goal from Ganago in the last seconds which blew up the 30,000 spectators of La Beaujoire. Nantes is certain to finish at least third in its group, and will therefore play a round of 16 in February 2023 in the Europa League or Conference League. Everything will be decided in a week in Piraeus, Greece, against Olympiakos.

A collective victory

The author of the liberating goal, Ignatius Ganago, at the microphone of Simon Reungoat. “This is the most important goal of my career so far. When I score directly, I realize that the three points are in the pocket and I see the super happy supporters. These are moments that we really want to experience in football! I saw all my teammates who were also happy because really today, they ran like crazy. It wasn’t easy, but we didn’t give up. Well, it’s a great collective victory and it’s really an incredible evening. We still want: we still have Olympiakos. We’re going to go there and give everything like we did today, to try to take that second place.”

The first scorer of the match, Ludovic Blas:we did the same thing against Olympiakos, we like to be scared I think. But that is a reward and a reward for the match against Nice because we are doing good things and we are rewarded tonight. We made a mistake on the goal but we believed in it and we were solid! It’s a very good team honestly, I didn’t expect that, and we believed in it until the end thanks to everyone’s support…. You have to take advantage: it’s atmospheres like that that we came to look for and live… it’s great!” Antoine Kombouaré’s men will find La Beaujoire, this time in the league, next Sunday at 3 p.m., against Clermont.
