In recent years, a research project on the history of social hygiene and health policy in Frankfurt am Main has been carried out at the Fritz Bauer Institute, which was financed by the Department of Health. The main results of the recently completed research work are presented by the editor Jens Kolata. The Frankfurt city health department was at the center of the project, but a network of institutions and people who mainly cared for, monitored, regulated and disciplined people who were socially disadvantaged and marginalized were also analyzed. The study extends beyond the turning points of 1933 and 1945 and examines both the radicalization processes before National Socialism and its mental and scientific continuities in the young Federal Republic.

The research project, which was carried out from 2019 to 2022, and this event are based on a cooperation between the Fritz Bauer Institute and the Frankfurt am Main City Health Office.
