F1, Brazil: the pole is Hamilton, Vettel fined and reprimand

The Mercedes driver closed the qualifying session at 1'07 "281 (track record) in front of Sebastian Vettel (+0.093), who however – for a controversial episode in Q2 – was called by the marshals. According to the race officials, the Ferrari driver was called to the bridge-balance, but "he refused to turn off the engine at first, making measurements difficult. At the free way, then, he damaged some of the equipment ». Vettel was called by the stewards after qualifying to discuss the issue, which ended in a relatively 'painless' way: the German got away with a reprimand and a fine of 25 thousand euros, but no penalty on the grid. Third place for Valtteri Bottas, followed by Kimi Raikkonen. Third row for the Red Bulls of Max Verstappen and Daniel Ricciardo. In the first ten also Ericsson, Leclerc, Grosjean and Gasly.

LE Q1 After the first run, rain arrives in Interlagos, although it is light. The most affected is Fernando Alonso, very nervous and eliminated at the end of the session with the eighteenth time. Verstappen, in front of Raikkonen and Vettel, then the Mercedes of Hamilton, is closing the lead. In addition to Alonso Vandoorne, Stroll, Hartley and Sainz remain out, only 5 milliseconds mocked by Ocon.

LE Q2 Lewis Hamilton is the protagonist of the second session, but not for the third time achieved. Shortly after returning to the track, the Briton created some difficulties in Raikkonen grappling with the first lap launched and shortly thereafter, with a sudden gap, he sent Sirotkin off the track, which however managed to control the car. Two risky maneuvers, especially in the case of the Russian, which however do not end under investigation. On the other Mercedes Valtteri Bottas closes the lead, ahead of Vettel: for the German there is also a moment of nervousness at the weighs, when he returned for the change of tires and was stopped for the procedure while he arrived at the box. Taken in a hurry, the Ferrari did not turn off the engine, slightly damaging the structure, and at the end of qualifying was called by the commissioners. Raikkonen closes instead fifth behind Verstappen. Also worthy of note is the performance of Charles Leclerc, who in time already expired stubbornly acquires a qualification with Alfa-Sauber.

RICCIARDO AND OCON RETROCESSI Esteban Ocon, along with Daniel Ricciardo was penalized compared to the result of qualifying. The Frenchman will be back five places to change the gearbox on his car beyond the allowed limit. Same penalty for the Australian Red Bull, back for a change of engine.
