Facebook puts an end to live online sales starting tomorrow

Facebook will discontinue the live shopping functionality on the platform from this Saturday – in a statement, the social network assured that as of October 1 it will no longer be possible to organize “any new or scheduled live shopping event on Facebook” .

Facebook Live will continue to be available for users to broadcast live events but will no longer have specific sales features available via Marketplace, such as creating product playlists or tagging products in live videos. Thus, users can continue to use live events on Facebook to promote their products, but they can no longer identify them in lists with their prices and refer to their own business pages.

Meta, the company that owns Facebook, justified the change by the fact that “consumer viewing behaviors are changing to short videos”, so it is “shifting the focus to Reels on Facebook and Instagram, the product short-lived video footage from Meta”.
