Two people die again in a traffic accident in Lower Franconia. The driver of a Mazda swerved into oncoming traffic and collided with a truck.

Thüngersheim – For the second time within 24 hours, there has been a tragic traffic accident in Lower Franconia. On Friday (May 5), a couple died in a failed overtaking maneuver in the Main-Spessart district. This time there was a crash in the district of Würzburg near Thüngersheim. According to the police, a 42-year-old from the district was driving his Mazda on the B27 towards Karlstadt on Saturday afternoon.

“For reasons that have not yet been clarified, he left the roadway and collided with an oncoming truck,” the police said. The driver and his 56-year-old passenger were seriously injured in the impact. “An emergency doctor could only determine the death of the two.”

The 50-year-old truck driver and a 9-year-old boy with him were taken to hospital with minor injuries. According to the police, the unloaded truck broke through a guardrail after the collision and came to rest next to the road. The rescue dragged on into the afternoon.

The public prosecutor’s office in Würzburg ordered an expert to clarify the accident. The B27 was completely closed for the duration of the accident recording and the necessary rescue work. Traffic was diverted by the emergency services on site. (tkip)
