The next edition of the League of Legends Super League will start in January 2022. A total of ten teams will face each other in this tournament, including the current champion, Vodafone Giants, who won in the final played in Barcelona on August 12 against UCAM Esports Club.

In addition to those mentioned, other teams that are part of the Superliga are Movistar Riders, G2 Arctic or MAD Lions Madrid. Also participating will be the formation recently acquired by the content creator Ibai Llanos and the Barça central defender, Gerard Piqué, who last September announced the purchase of the Astralis Stormbringers team, recently promoted to the first category of League of Legends in Spain.

The statement published by FC Barcelona does not specify which place the club has acquired to be able to participate in this competition, nor the price it has had to pay, although everything points to the possibility that it has associated with the S2V team to enter this competition.

In fact, it is not the first time that Barça enters the field of the sports, since it already has three more specialized teams in eFootball, Rocket League and HearthStone video games.

League of Legends is a strategy and action game developed by the American company Riot Games. In it, two teams of five players compete to conquer the rival base. Before each game, each player must choose a hero among the more than one hundred available and coordinate with his teammates.

The dynamics of League of Legends, largely inherited from the old computer strategy games, may be unintelligible to someone outside of the game, but it has become an everyday thing for millions of fans. The world final of this video game, held this past weekend, brought together more than 4 million simultaneous viewers through the platforms of streaming.
