The director in Puerto Rico of the Federal Agency of Investigations (FBI), Douglas Leff, announced on Thursday, the arrest of Carlos García Valentín for the production and possession of child pornography.
He explained that a criminal complaint issued on April 10, 2019, accused García Valentín with "Production of child pornography by the father or legal guardian", in violation of tile 18, United States Code, Section 2251 (b) and "possession of child pornography ", in violation of tile 18, United States Code, Section 2252 (a) (4).
García Valentín was arrested without incident by members of the FBI San Juan Child Exploitation Task Force.
If convicted, García Valentín could face 15 years to 30 years imprisoned for the production of child pornography and up to 20 years of possession of child pornography.
The case is prosecuted by the Assistant US Attorney (AUSA) Nicholas Cannon and investigated by the FBI.
The FBI acknowledged the support provided by the Department of the Puerto Rico Family in this case.
