Federation of Quebec Municipalities – The Quebec Municipalities Insurance Fund takes off

Following the unanimous adoption by the National Assembly of Bill 202 – An Act respecting the activity of the Fédération québécoise des municipalités locales et régionale (FQM) as insurer and the merger by absorption of La Mutuelle des municipalités du Québec (MMQ) last December, La Mutuelle des municipalités du Québec (MMQ) is now known as the Quebec Municipalities Insurance Fund (Fund), whose activities will be coordinated by the Quebec Federation of Municipalities (FMQ).

The creation of the Fund supports the desire to strengthen the relevance and efficiency of the range of products and services offered by the FQM to support municipalities in carrying out their mandates, within a single organization.

“The synergy between the services is found everywhere in the FQM’s offer; each of them is thought out in the global context of the municipal world and the needs of organizations. We are convinced that by joining forces in this way, the Fund will strengthen its position with insured municipalities,” said Mr. Jacques Demers, President of the FQM, Mayor of Sainte-Catherine-de-Hatley and Prefect of the MRC. of Memphremagog.

One of the main advantages resulting from the creation of the Fund is to enable its policyholders to benefit from the cross-cutting expertise offered by the FQM. These organizations can count on a large team that combines unparalleled expertise with respect to current and future municipal issues.

The only damage insurance fund entirely dedicated to the municipal sector in Quebec, the Fund has 1,140 municipalities, boards and organizations insured to date. With an annual renewal rate of 99%, it is indisputable proof that it offers the insurance coverage necessary to protect municipal activities.
