Zurich (AP) — After the Russian invasion of Ukraine, tennis superstar Roger Federer wants to provide financial support for the victims of the war of aggression.
Half a million US dollars should go to the organization War Child Holland through its foundation to allow Ukrainian children access to school, the 40-year-old Swiss said on Twitter.
“My family and I are shocked by the images from Ukraine and heartbroken because of the innocent people who are so terribly affected,” the 20-time Grand Slam winner wrote. “We stand for peace. Federer has four children with his wife Mirka. On the sports side, Federer hopes to return this summer after another knee operation last August.
