«Virginia Silvan is his name, and Dalprem Kaur his spiritual name.” This is how the text reads that, by way of a small biography, we find exposed at the entrance of the exhibition “Feeling in art”which opened last Friday at the House of Culture of Alcalá.
Virginia was born in Seville and grew up in alcala, drawing from the age of fifteen, and although he would dedicate himself professionally to the field of psychology, he never stopped creating. In fact, his training would later have an impact on his art, as he approaches his works from a psychological and spiritual perspective. Now, at forty years of age, he has decided to dedicate himself completely to painting and presents us with this exhibition of different watercolor paintings, which according to his words “is simply about being able to place yourself in front of the work and feel what it transmits to you without use the mind, only with the sensation». The amalgamation of colors and strokes that make up the different works in this exhibition “express different sensations, from the strength of the Earth, nature, sunsets or from pure abstract joy through color.” Regarding the support, most of them are captured on paper, although some of them are on wood.
“These works open the door to the experience of feeling, since the mind is confused by abstraction (…) and that is the objective, not to understand, simply to flow”, explains the synopsis of the exhibition. She continues the text stating that the “only meaning” of the works is “to arouse sensations, which will be different for each person, because as a unique being, each person will have their own experience of it.” People of all ages attended the event, and the little ones enjoyed this pictorial and sensory experience with their families.
The House of Culture welcomes from February 3 to 19 this exhibition by the Sevillian artist Virginia Silván. Opening to the public during the usual hours of these municipal offices.
