FEMA Administrator Brock Long resigns

"It has been a great honor to serve our country as an @ fema administrator for the past two years, and while this was the opportunity of a lifetime, it's time for me to go home to my family," Long tweeted.

Last fall, Long was the subject of a US Department of Homeland Security investigation into abusing state resources when he used government vehicles and personnel for six hours between his home in North Carolina and FEMA headquarters in Washington.

Minister of Homeland Security, Kirstjen Nielsen, said at the time that Long would reimburse the federal government for its unofficial use of government vehicles.
