The administrator of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Brock Long resigned during his day today, reported the Department of National Security of the United States.

"Over the past two years, Administrator Long has admirably led the men and women of FEMA during historic, difficult and complex times." Under Brock's leadership, FEMA successfully supported the efforts of the territory states to respond and recover from six major hurricanes, Five historic forest fires and dozens of emergencies, I appreciate your dedication to FEMA and your commitment to protecting a culture of preparedness across the nation, "said Kirstjen M. Nielsen, secretary of the federal agency.

For its part, it was announced that Pete Gaynor will become the new administrator of FEMA.
