Hani Abu Rida escorts Ahmed Ahmed on a visit to Cairo Stadium
CAIRO: Ahmed Ahmed, the president of the African Football Confederation (CAF), has defended himself against anyone who accuses him of failing to give Egypt its full share of the 2019 African Cup of Nations.
"There is no connection between the right of satellite broadcasting and the increase of the championship teams. Lagardier has bought the rights for years and we are now negotiating to re-evaluate things, although it is difficult because the contracts are already signed," Ahmed, a member of Madagascar, told a news conference on Thursday.
"I always hear about corruption in Kef so we asked the FIFA to intervene to review things. I am sure that everything is going well and there is no corruption and everyone has to wait for what the Viva committee will say," he said.
He concluded: "There are lies promoted against K and all his committees are incorrect, and everyone will see the integrity of the Union in the coming days."
