The wait for a new Bayonetta game has been long. Ever since PlatinumGames unveiled the Bayonetta 3 in 2017, the developer has barely mentioned the game, but Friday night it finally reappeared.
During Nintendo’s latest Direct broadcast, we received a brand new trailer, which you can see at the top of the article. Of the almost four minutes, it is mostly film sequences, but Platinum also served some glimpses of what to expect from the gameplay.
It goes hectically in the video, but we get to see the game’s titular protagonist control giant monsters in battle. She can also summon various objects, including a kind of rocket that she drives straight through the enemy.
Bayonetta 3 still has no exact release date, but Nintendo could say as much as the game coming sometime next year. It will be exclusive to the Nintendo Switch.
The first Bayonetta game got its start in 2010 on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, while the sequel Bayonetta 2 came to Wii U in 2014. In the breeze for the series is the main character with the same name as the title – a witch who dresses in her own hair, with pistols as stiletto heels.
We enjoyed both games well, we, no matter how overbearing they may be at times.
– Bayonetta 2 is a game you will breathe a sigh of relief. It can be downright tiring to play, and if you’re exhausted after a few hours in this world, you should know that it’s all right, we wrote about Bayonetta 2 before pasting a nine at the bottom of the review.
