With the Lower Saxony “Week of Vocational Training” from 28.03. until 01.04.2022 a clear signal: the cabinet members visit different places of vocational training to draw attention to this area of ​​education. Finance Minister Reinhold Hilbers also visited the Lower Saxony State Office for Pay and Benefits (NLBV) in Aurich on (today) Thursday to promote vocational training in state service. “Against the background of demographic change, recruiting young people is of great importance for the state administration,” Hilbers explained during his visit.

For young people, training at the NLBV offers a career start that not only promises good and secure jobs, but also interesting and challenging areas of work. “Practical training at the workplace with full integration into the supervising team is important to us,” explained Hilbers. They are instructed in a structured manner by the practical trainers and can do part of the work independently after just a few weeks.

At the NLBV in Aurich, seven candidates have embarked on a civil service career and are completing their two-year training course in general services. In addition, twelve trainees are in their three-year apprenticeship for the profession of administrative clerk. A total of 470 employees work at the Aurich site.

Both training groups get to know the many different tasks in the areas of enforcement, aid, salaries and wages as well as in the areas of organization and personnel in several training stations. In addition to the theoretical courses at the state study institute in Bad Münder, the trainees attend the vocational school in Aurich in block lessons.

With the theme week, the state government is emphasizing the equivalence of professional and academic education. The vocational training week is intended to make company practice, professional skills and their importance and the opportunities for a career and qualified employment even more visible. Dual vocational training is a success and location factor for Germany as a business location. The attractiveness and quality of vocational training offers young people a wide range of career and development opportunities, especially for high-performing students. The state government, together with the Alliance for Dual Vocational Training, is thus making a further contribution to securing the need for skilled workers.
