The International Ski Federation (FIS) has accepted the Polish proposal for the August date for the inauguration of this year’s edition of the Summer Men’s Grand Prix in ski jumping. This information was provided to our website by Andrzej Wąsowicz, the head of the organizing committee of the competition in Wisła-Malinka and the president of the Silesian-Beskids Ski Association on Wednesday morning. The event will take place from August 21-23.
The Polish Ski Association (PZN) is currently seeking 999 spectators to enter the stands. The final decision is to be made by the Ministry of Sport. – President Apoloniusz Tajner addressed the letter in this matter. Are we required to comply with football stadiums? We are waiting for the interpretation of the ministry in our context – says Andrzej Wąsowicz, who assures that the Vistula facility allows to preserve all safety considerations by using seats and standing for such a group of spectators.
FIS gives green light
The International Ski Federation (FIS) awaited the Polish party’s declaration regarding the date of the event until the end of June. PZN and the competition organizing committee decided for the second half of August, resigning from the September deadline. – Sandro Pertile is in favor of this proposal. He is looking forward to such a possibility and provides assistance in the coming weeks. There is nothing to wait for. In September it will be after the holidays, and we want the most people to watch these competitions on TV and in the stands – admits Wąsowicz in an interview with Skijumping.pl.
For the Beskid Arena it will be the eighth inauguration of the Summer Grand Prix in history. The best players in the world appear in Wisła-Malinka continuously since 2010. The program of this year’s event – similarly to previous seasons – assumes Friday qualifications (18:00), Saturday team competition (17:30) and Sunday individual struggles (17:30). Broadcast on Polish Television and Eurosport.
The base of all teams will be the Wiślski Hotel Gołębiewski. Willingness to appear at the start has already been announced by the largest teams. It is possible that the Japanese will give up arriving in Europe. Most teams are to reach Poland by land.
Changes for fans and journalists
When will the sale of tickets start and in what form will it be available? – We’re not going to hurry. Details will probably be announced at the turn of July and August. Then we will also say more about prices, which this time will be lower than usual. The situation is difficult and we want to meet expectations. We will try to get the largest possible pool of tickets. Everything is determined by national regulations that will apply on the day of the competition. Information will be given in advance – Wąsowicz points out.
Fans who will get admission tickets to enter the premises of the Adam Małysz, they have to reckon with some restrictions on the stands. – During a recent grouping, we separated the zones in which fans had the opportunity to catch fives or take pictures with the players. Unfortunately, this is what it looks like today – adds the hill owner.
Restrictions during the pandemic will also affect media representatives. – This time the accreditation will be granted to a truncated group of journalists. Access to the press office will only be given to the most important editorial offices to keep the spaces longer, ”adds Ś-BZN president.
