Five men were arrested in connection with a preliminary investigation into five people Video showing the burning of an image of the Grenfell Tower,

The Metropolitan Police said the men, all from the south and south-east of London, surrendered on Monday night.

A Scotland Yard spokesman said that they are a 19-year-old, a 46-year-old and a 49-year-old man, all from South Norwood, a 49-year-old from Lambeth and a 55-year-old from Beckenham.

They dropped off at a police station in south London at 10:00 pm and were arrested on suspicion of being misdemeanors and remanded.

The previously published material featured a large flammable model labeled "Grenfell Tower", on which paper figures on the windows were set ablaze.

In the clip published online, loud laughter is heard from the camera when the image is lit.

You hear a person say, "Did not it start from the 10th floor?" While others add, "Help me! Help me! "And" jump out of the window! "

Another says, "Here's yours," while the fire takes hold.

At the end of the clip, someone else can say, "That happens when they do not pay their rent."

The video ends because the model is completely consumed by the fire. A viewer says, "Perfect."

The activists described the video as a "disgusting hate act".

Natasha Elcock of Grenfell United said, "It's a disgusting video. We hope the police take this seriously, "while Justice4Grenfell said it had" raised great alarm and distress ".

London Fire Department Commissioner Dany Cotton, who was on the scene of the devastating flame, said the video was "appalling and disturbing".

London Mayor Sadiq Khan said he "totally" condemned the "foul-smelling" video and described the Grenfell Tower's fire as "one of the most devastating tragedies our city has ever endured."

Moyra Samuels, part of the Justice For Grenfell campaign group, spoke of indignation "across the country, from ordinary decent people who actually see it as it was".

She told BBC Breakfast it was a disgusting attack on vulnerable people, adding, "We have no doubt that there are decent, generous people across the UK, and this act does not represent ordinary Britons.

"But in this country there is currently a worrying increase in racism. And that's worrisome, because it's now starting to affect us directly, you know, which means we actually have to think about what we're doing about it and how we can respond to it in general. "
