Only since 2022 in Genoa
The sporting resurgence of former Bundesliga professional Abdelhamid Sabiri takes the next step in the summer. The 26-year-old Moroccan with a German passport is now only on short-term loan for his club Sampdoria and will move on to AC Florenz after the season. The club from Genoa, where the former Bundesliga professional has only been in the squad since the start of the season, is reportedly exploring until the end whether the transfer fee paid in 2022 could not even be quadrupled next summer.
Fiorentina secured an immediate signing of Sabiris but are returning the versatile midfielder to the relegation-threatened Genoese for the remainder of the season. It has already been officially registered with the Lega, even if it has not yet been confirmed by the clubs. According to transfer reporter Gianluca Di Marzio, they wanted to pay 2 million euros. That would be double what la Samp paid to second division club Ascoli last summer, but still only half of the current market value of the World Cup participant – and the league rivals insisted on that. Accordingly, the Blucerchiati had 4 million euros in mind.
Sabiri grew up in Frankfurt and was trained in the youth of TuS Koblenz and Darmstadt 98. The former DFB junior landed at 1. FC Nürnberg in 2016 via Sportfreunde Siegen and qualified in Central Franconia for his first transfer of millions to Huddersfield in the Premier League. After seven appearances for the “Terriers”, Sabiri returned to Germany for the then Bundesliga club SC Paderborn, but moved on to Ascoli in Serie B a season later. The move to Sampdoria saw him return to the first division.
