Freiburg (dpa) – Striker Michael Gregoritsch from SC Freiburg is surprised by the anticipation in the city before the second leg in the round of 16 of the Europa League against Juventus Turin. “I also underestimated that a bit. I didn’t think there would be such a huge euphoria after this draw,” said the Austrian the day before the game on Thursday evening (6.45 p.m. / RTL +). “We have to transport that. Each of us is happy and everyone in the city knows that this is something very special.”
Freiburg lost 1-0 in Turin last Thursday and need a win by a goal to go into extra time. “We still have chances. We have to accept the duels and win,” said Gregoritsch, who wants to get the fans behind him.
The Austria national player is looking forward to the duel with Ángel Di Maria, who will probably only sit on the bench for the time being, and “many other world-class players”.
