Freiburg (AP) – Ritsu Doan returns to the Bundesliga and strengthens SC Freiburg. The offensive player from Japan last played for PSV Eindhoven in the Netherlands and was loaned to Arminia Bielefeld in the 2020/21 season. Doan has now signed a working paper with the Breisgauers, as the club announced on Tuesday. Confidentiality was agreed on the content of the contract. According to media reports, the fee should be eight to nine million euros.
“Ritsu showed in Bielefeld that he can play extensively in the Bundesliga – we will need that from him too. It’s nice that it still worked out after a year’s delay,” said sporting director Klemens Hartenbach.
After Daniel-Kofi Kyereh (FC St. Pauli) and returnee Matthias Ginter (Borussia Mönchengladbach), the 24-year-old national player is the third external newcomer to the sports club. The change from Michael Gregoritsch could also be announced in a timely manner. However, Freiburg and FC Augsburg do not seem to agree on the transfer fee.
