Freiburg (dpa) – Bundesliga soccer club SC Freiburg is not planning any further personnel changes for the time being after the commitment of U20 national player Merlin Röhl. “When I look at the date, I assume so,” said coach Christian Streich when asked whether the 20-year-old’s move from third division club FC Ingolstadt on Wednesday was Baden’s last transfer this summer. “You never know. That’s why we prefer to leave it open,” Streich continued. “But I assume so.”
Röhl was noticed by the Freiburgers “because of his commitment on the pitch,” explained Streich, whose team is taking part in the Baden-Württemberg state duel at VfB Stuttgart on Saturday (3:30 p.m. / Sky). The midfield talent is a “big player, dynamic, with a lot of self-drive” and had “well thought about” the step to SC. Freiburg had previously signed Ritsu Doan (PSV Eindhoven), Matthias Ginter (Borussia Mönchengladbach), Daniel-Kofi Kyereh (FC St. Pauli) and Michael Gregoritsch (FC Augsburg).
