Recently, two compact crossovers appeared in the Volkswagen lineup – the T-Roc (length – 4234 mm, wheelbase – 2603 mm) and T-Cross (4107 and 2563 mm). The first SUV is already sold in Europe and China, the second will appear in these markets (plus South America) next year. But the States – the second largest market in the world after the Middle Kingdom – both models will bypass. However, the German brand will not leave this country without a small SUV.
According to Car and Driver, Volkswagen will develop another compact SUV that will be designed specifically for the United States. Although, if such a cross really gets on the conveyor, then it will most likely get to Canada and Mexico, where T-Roc and T-Cross are also not represented.
The novelty, obviously, will be built on the MQB platform. It is assumed that the American cross will be slightly larger than the T-Roc. The competitors are models for the Honda HR-V, Toyota C-HR and Jeep Renegade. The SUV will go on sale by 2020. No other details about the future of the SUV.
Today, Volkswagen sells three crossovers in the States: the Tiguan Limited (that is, the first-generation model, from $ 22,250 or 1,460,000 rubles at the current rate), the new Tiguan (only seven-seater version, from $ 24,595 or 1,614,000 rubles), and also a three-row Atlas all-terrain vehicle (from $ 30,750 or 2,018,000 rubles, in Russia – Teramont). Next year, the Atlas five-seater, the concept of Cross Sport, should appear on the American market, the Germans showed last spring. The first Tiguan, in contrast, will soon leave the United States. The new compact cross will be positioned as a “entry level” model.

As for Russia, T-Roc will not reach us, but the possibility of the appearance of T-Cross in the Russian market is being considered. Volkswagen is also likely to offer the Russian customers a SUV, which in China is known as the Tharu: this cross is an “analogue” of the Skoda Karoq, both models plan to produce in our country.
In general, by 2025, Volkswagen promises to sell in the global market more than 30 models of the SUV segment, including electric cars. The first completely “green” crossover of the brand will be a model with a design based on the I.D. concept. Crozz, she will be introduced in 2020.
