Fulham won 2-1 after extra time against Brentford on Tuesday in the playoff final of Championship, England’s second division. A success that allows the London club to return to the Premier League a year after leaving it. Denis Odoi played 110 minutes for Fulham.
In a hotly contested meeting, it was not until the first period of extra time to see Fulham open the scoring on a clever free kick from Bryan (105th). The defender of the ‘Cottagers’ ensured the victory of his family four minutes from time (116th). In additional time, Dalsgaard (ex-Zulte Waregem) reduced the mark for Brentford (120th + 4) but to no avail.
A year after his relegation to the Championship, Fulham will already return to the Premier League.
In addition to Denis Odoi, the London club has three other Jupiler Pro League alumni in its ranks: Aleksandar Mitrovic (ex-Anderlecht), Neeskens Kebano (ex-Charleroi and Genk) and Anthony Knockaert (ex-Standard).
Leeds and West Bromwich Albion are also promoted to the Premier League next season. Leeds, English D2 champion, will return to the elite of English football for the first time since 2004.
