Oscar Garcia announced the death of his daughter this Thursday on social networks. The former Reims coach (2021-2022) posted a photo of him and his child on Instagram, accompanied by a short message in the caption: “Fly high my love”. The Spanish technician made many round trips between France and Spain, when he directed the Stade de Reims, to spend time with his family and his daughter who was suffering.
Oscar Garcia was removed from the French club on October 13 and replaced on an interim basis by his assistant Will Still. At the time, his personal and family situation was notably mentioned by the management to justify his departure. “I will support him in the hard times he will still go through. His situation may have played on the fact that he was less mentally fresh. You can’t fight two fights at once, I think he understood that.” said Mathieu Lacour, general manager of the Stade de Reims.
