“In the last few weeks, the speed of vaccination has been increased significantly,” says Mayor Martin Horn. “This is having an effect: the 7-day incidence in the Freiburg district is well below 10 for the first time since August 30, 2020, due to the daily increase in the number of people vaccinated. In the meantime, 38.1 percent of the people living here are fully immunized. Many thanks to all those involved, who have been working under high pressure in a coordinated and committed manner for over six months, as well as to all Freiburg residents who, through their considerate behavior, are helping to contain the pandemic! “
Prof. Dr. Frederik Wenz, Chief Medical Director and CEO of the University Hospital, adds: “As one of nine central vaccination centers in Baden-Württemberg, the Central Vaccination Center in Freiburg has proven to be an essential component of the vaccination strategy from the start. The ZIZ is also very well positioned for the next two months. In principle, it would even be possible to increase the number of vaccinations and carry out up to 5500 vaccinations per day – but this would require a sufficient amount of vaccine. “
The ZIZ is supervised and coordinated by Freiburg Wirtschaft Touristik und Messe GmbH & Co. KG (FWTM). She is supported by the University Hospital and the City of Freiburg. The University Hospital and the Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians provide medical care and medical staff. The state of Baden-Württemberg bears the costs of the vaccination centers.
