Freiburg: Ralf Klingler-Neumann is the new head of the Freiburg State Education Authority – Ralf Klingler-Neumann is 50 years old and lives in Freiburg im Breisgau

Ralf Klingler-Neumann has been the new head of the Freiburg State Education Authority since Monday, January 10th. He succeeds Werner Nagel, who took over the management of the department for elementary, practical, secondary, junior high, community schools and special education and counseling centers in the Freiburg regional council in December last year.

“In his work as a consultant in the regional council, his further training and department management tasks at the Freiburg State Seminar for Didactics and Teacher Training and his teaching activities at the Esther-Weber-School in Emmendingen, Ralf Klingler-Neumann has proven that he has the ideal, both professionally and personally occupation for this position. He knows both everyday school life and the perspective of the school administration. I am very pleased that we can continue to build on the trusting cooperation in the future and wish him a good start in his new office,” said District President Bärbel Schäfer.

Klingler-Neumann completed his basic studies with a focus on special schools in the subjects of education for the physically handicapped, education for the learning disabled and mathematics at the University of Education in Freiburg and Ludwigsburg /Reutlingen. After the preparatory service in Heidelberg, he began his professional career in September 1999 as a special education teacher at the Esther Weber School, a special education and counseling center with a boarding school with a focus on physical and motor development in Emmendingen (formerly the “State School for the Physically Disabled with a home in Emmendingen -Water”).

In 2005, he was partially seconded as a lecturer to the State Seminar for Didactics and Teacher Training (grammar schools and special schools) in Freiburg, where he worked from 2008, first as a specialist manager and from 2011 as a department head for the funding priorities mental development and physical and motor development. At the same time, Klingler-Neumann did his doctorate from 2003 to 2009 at the Ludwigsburg University of Education in the special education department on the subject of “education, action and coexistence as basic concepts of education for the physically disabled in their historical context and their current significance”. Since 2008 he has also worked as a trainer in the training and further education of teachers in various subject areas.

In 2017 he moved to the school and education department of the Freiburg regional council, where he worked as a consultant for special education and counseling centers until he was appointed head of the Freiburg State Education Authority.
