From Bra to WC, These Abbreviations Are Often Mentioned but Don’t Know What It Means All

The following are a number of abbreviations that are commonly heard and their lengths and history summarized by Kompas.com.

A bra or bra or bra is a women’s undergarment designed to support or cover a woman’s breasts.

Citing the official website of the Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries (Gaikindo), the name Kijang is an abbreviation of “Indonesia-Japan Cooperation”.

Launched in Indonesia in 1977, the Toyota Kijang was born because President Suharto issued the “Versatile Commercial Motor Vehicle” (KNBS) program in the early 1970s.

The goal is to create domestically produced commercial vehicles at affordable prices, so that people can buy them as a means of transportation and distribution of goods.

Thinking for decades, Kijang has been present in several products, namely Kijang Buaya (1977-1981), Kijang Doyok (1981-1986), Kijang Super (1986-1996), Kijang Kapsul (1986-2004), Kijang Innova (2004-2004). 2015), and Kijang Innova Reborn (2015-present).

LPG stands for liquefied petroleum gas or natural gas that is liquefied with the main components propane (C3H8) and butane (C4H10), quoted from the official website of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources.

Liquefaction of natural gas into LPG is intended to solve the problem of transportation to consumers because the volume of LPG is much smaller than the volume of gas.

For Indonesians, “WC” is a word that is often used to replace the word “toilet”. WC itself is an abbreviation of water closet.

5. Soap operas

Sinetron is an abbreviation of electronic cinema. Based on the Big Indonesian Dictionary (KBBI), sinetron means a film made specifically for broadcast on electronic media, such as television.

6. PIN

Most people certainly have an ATM card or digital money platform. To access it, users are usually asked to enter a PIN number.

PIN stands for Personal Identification Number used in many financial transactions, quoted from Investopedia.

The purpose of this PIN number is to add additional security to the electronic transaction process.

Many sources say that WiFi stands for Wireless Fidelity. But based on history, the word is not quite right.

In collaboration with a brand consulting firm, WECA finally chose a Wi-Fi name which they thought was friendlier to the ear.

Initially, the choice of the name Wi-Fi was created as a play on Hi-Fi (High Fedelity). They also created an indiscriminate advertising slogan (tagline), namely “The Standar for Wireless Fidelity” which was used for a short time.

The perfunctory slogan later became a misunderstanding in the community who assumed the slogan was an acronym for WiFi. In fact, the fact that WiFi has no meaning whatsoever.

10. HVS

HVS adalah singkatan dari Hour Free Writing Paper.

In Dutch it means wood lint-free paper.
HVS paper is an important part of administrative, office, and educational activities. Without this paper, the tasks that we have to do may not be possible to do.

Then in 1969, ARPA managed to create a computer network called ARPANet (Advanced Research Projects Agency Network). ARPAnet is the forerunner of the modern internet.

12. Japri

Japri stands for private network or commonly referred to as Private Message.

Many people use the expression japri, but in fact not many people know what japri stands for.
