The festival “Lamp” with the motto “dignity” will be held for the seventh time this year. On August 20 and 21, the festival organizers invite you to attend one of more than 200 events on various topics relevant to society: practical, philosophical, global and also specific to Latvia. The festival will take place both in person in Cēsis and online and also together in viewing places throughout Latvia, the organizers of the festival told the portal “Delfi”.

“It’s not always easy to respect each other’s differences or the diversity of society. It’s hard to respect a person with different values ​​who lives in a different” bubble “and information space. The festival will feature more than 200 events, including a political disco and a traditional political bakery. Also this year, the festival will be available to those interested free of charge.

According to the festival organizers, many conversations will focus on the emotional and mental aspects of people’s well-being, addressing awkward, confusing and difficult topics and asking whether a happy life is possible for everyone. The program also includes a range of topics from childbirth and the role of men in the family to menopause and aging in the cult of youth.

Visitors to the festival will also have the opportunity to take part in one of the events of the festival “Lampa” in unusual formats, for example, watch LMT pilot from Cesis drive a drone with passengers on Biķernieki track, find out what rap, robots and dogs have in common with the National Armed Forces Military Police cynologist and service dog demonstrations, play mind games, test your knowledge in a foreign policy quiz, participate in the Latvian Fund for Nature climate championship, which will take place only in person on both days of the festival, or have fun at the stands about climate and dignity.

The organizers of the festival point out that the “Lamp” program will also be suitable for those whose relationship with food exceeds the limits of daily living. The future of bread, food as art and a secret sign language that reveals more than just the products available or the traditions of their preparation – this year at the “Lamp” festival invites to look at food through literature, cinema and theater.

Also, every festival visitor will be able to find answers and directions on how to balance personal and total benefits. The Swedbank Sustainability Stage will feature talks ranging from emotional intelligence and sustainable innovation for companies to how cryptocurrencies and our daily choices affect the climate. In turn, young people aged 12-18 are especially invited to join Swedbank’s Beelievers youth sustainability program to prepare, loop, skate, reveal their superpowers by phone and build learning muscles for the future of the planet.

Also this year at the festival, the talks will sound in several languages. Most of the festival’s events will take place in Latvian, but there will also be events in English and Russian with simultaneous translation into Latvian, and some events will be provided with sign translation.

As in other years, this year everyone has the opportunity to compile their own program using the tool “My program” available on the festival website. It allows you to select events according to the category you like and create a list of current events in an easy, transparent way, which can also be easily reviewed on the phone.

It has already been reported that people who will be able to present a valid Covid-19 certificate, which confirms the completion of a full vaccination course or the fact of illness during the last six months, will be able to attend the negotiation festival this year. Therefore, the festival will be available to visitors from the age of 12 this year. The organizers of the festival invite to watch the festival remotely also for those who have the youngest at home, because it will not be possible to be in the festival areas with children under 12 years of age, including babies.

However, it will be possible to watch the festival’s discussions live or join like-minded people in the festival “Lampa” together in the viewing places: libraries and culture houses, co-production rooms and cafes throughout Latvia – from Aloja to Dundaga. The list of viewing places will be updated until the beginning of August, and it will be available on the festival website.
