Wolfsburg – Captain Sebastian Furchner of DEL-Club Grizzlys Wolfsburg has to pause after his injury at least until the end of next week.
“It’s too early to tell if he’ll be in the playoffs again. I assume that he won’t be able to return until the end of next week at the earliest,” team doctor Axel Gänsslen told the German Press Agency. “His entire spine hurts, but fortunately no fractures or bleeding were discovered during the computed tomography.”
According to the doctor, Furchner left the hospital the day before to recover from his injury at home. After that, according to the so-called “Return to Play” program, he should return to training and playing. In the current playoff quarterfinals against the Fischtown Pinguins, Furchner should no longer be an option. The 39-year-old crashed into the gang after a duel at the start on Sunday and remained dazed. Furchner was treated for minutes and taken to the hospital.
On TV pictures, there were many indications of a head injury. After the season, Furchner wants to retire due to health problems, as he has been struggling with nerve problems and sensory disturbances in his lower legs and feet for several years.
