On Monday morning, the Martini Hospital and the Doksterdienst Groningen removed the screening units for the entrance to the GP emergency post and the emergency department.
Patients are now asked indoors about any symptoms of corona.
The hospital and the doctor’s service no longer need the containers; screening is now done by telephone and upon entering the building. Patients and visitors have to answer a number of questions there. If this does not lead to suspicion of corona, they may enter. If there is any suspicion and you come to the GP emergency post, the patient goes to the corona post.
Inside, measures such as disinfecting hands, walking routes and seats at a distance of one and a half meters will continue to apply. A maximum of one supervisor is also allowed per patient.
The doctor’s department uses the removal of the containers to remind Groningen people of the importance of emergency: only then can they call the GP emergency post.
Director-director Erik Noordhof: ‘During the corona crisis, we noticed that patients with mild complaints stayed away. We received far fewer calls for ‘trifles’ and thus came back to what we are as a doctor’s service for: urgent general practitioner care, so care that cannot wait until the day practice is open again. We hope to be able to hold on to that, even after corona. ”
