After thirteen years of marriage, the couple decided to go their separate ways. But various rumors claim that there is another reason for the split. According to many, the Brazilian model would have given him an ultimatum. He had to choose his career or her. In an interview with Vanity Fair, Bündchen refutes those bad gossip.
“That’s what people made of it. What has been said is just one piece of a much larger puzzle. It’s not so black and white,” the top model explains to Vanity Fair. She calls the rumors about the alleged ultimatum “very painful” and “the craziest thing she’s ever heard.” “I’ve always cheered for him, and I always will. If there’s one person I want to be the happiest person on earth, it’s him,” says Bündchen of her ex-husband. I want all his dreams to come true, I really mean that from the bottom of my heart.”
The reason why the couple broke up after thirteen years of marriage, according to the top model, has to do with other things. “Sometimes you grow together, sometimes you grow apart. When we met we wanted a family and we both wanted everything. As time passed, we realized that we wanted different things and now we had to make a choice,” said Bündchen. She continues: “That doesn’t mean you don’t love the other person. It means that you need to find someone who will accommodate you. It is a dance and a matter of finding balance.”
Heartbreaking
The split was heartbreaking for her. “Especially because you envision your life going a certain way. I did everything I could. I believed in fairy tales when I was a child,” says Bündchen. “You give everything you have to make your dream come true. You give 100 percent of yourself, and it’s heartbreaking when it doesn’t end the way you hoped. I now mourn the death of my dream.” But the model has absolutely no regrets about her marriage, which also produced two children aged 10 and 13. “We don’t play against each other. We are a team and that’s great. I look back on it with no regrets.”
