GM remembers some pickups and SUVs over brakes

Detroit – General Motors recalls about 41,000 pickup trucks and police cars due to the loose brake pedals.

The recall includes 2015-2016 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra 2500 and 3500 pickup trucks, Chevrolet Silverado 1500 special service pickup trucks and some Chevrolet Tahoe sport utility vehicles for police and other government agencies.

GM says that the brake pedal swivel nut can loosen. A driver could not stop the vehicle if the brake pedal is loose or ineffective.

The company says it will fix the problem for free by giving glue to the nut and reinstalling it with increased tightness. It plans to notify vehicle owners, but did not say when.

The company did not say if the problem caused crashes or injuries.
