Golkar, PAN and PPP in Coalition, Democrats with Nasdem?

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Chairman of the DPP Democratic Party Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) stated that his party has yet to determine a coalition with other parties ahead of the 2024 Presidential Election (Pilpres). very liquid.

“Of course it’s still very fluid, friends, we’ll just keep following it. Because I’m sure that in the months ahead until the end of 2022, especially the early phase of 2023, the map of the coalition may be getting clearer,” said AHY in Medan, North Sumatra, Thursday. , May 12, 2022.

“But today was very fluid, and we got on very well with everyone,” AHY said.

AHY said the Democrats were still exploring various possible coalitions with other political parties. He stated that he would continue to communicate with political figures to face the 2024 presidential election.

“I communicate and have good relations, yes, stay in touch with other political parties. Anyone, including political figures. Why?, because we want us to continue exploring possibilities,” said AHY.

According to AHY, the party bearing the star of mercy he leads must make various efforts to build a coalition, if it wants to participate in the contention of the 2024 presidential election.

In the last few months, AHY has continued to hold meetings with a number of general chairmen of other political parties. Earlier this month, he visited the residence of the General Chairman of the Golkar Party, Airlangga Hartarto, in Jakarta. He also briefly met with the Chairman of the Nasdem Party, Surya Paloh at the Nasdem DPP office, Jakarta last March.

However, the Democrats did not join the United Indonesia Coalition which was formed by Golkar, the National Mandate Party and the United Development Party. The chairman of the Golkar Party DPP, Ace Hasan Syadzily, stated that his party required their general chairman, Airlangga Hartarto, to be a presidential candidate from the coalition.

The Democratic Party itself previously stated that it was ready to carry AHY together with Anies Baswedan in the 2024 presidential election. This was inseparable from the results of a number of surveys which stated that the two had the potential to become a strong partner at the five-year democratic party. However, Democrats still have to build a coalition to meet the Presidential Threshold.
