With the free comic campaign, the initiators want to draw attention to the art form of comics, enable the exchange among the people of Augsburg who are enthusiastic about comics and also offer readers who are not familiar with comics an insight into this diverse genre.
Martina Wild, mayor and consultant for education and migration, welcomes the increasing appreciation of comic art: “Comics were underestimated for a long time and were frowned upon in the educational sector as easy-to-consume reading material, but not least because of the annual campaign, comics have long been an important medium , in order to convey reading fun to children and young people, and the genre has advanced to a real art form.” (pm/aha)
