JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The recovery rate of Covid-19 patients in Indonesia has not reached an average global cure rate of around 50 percent.

This was conveyed by the Director General (Dirjen) of Disease Prevention and Control (P2P) Ministry of Health Achmad Yurianto in a press conference at BNPB, Thursday (2/7/2020).

“The global recovery rate is around 50 percent, we (Indonesia) are still below it,” said Yurianto.

It is known, the cure rate of Covid-19 patients in Indonesia has only reached 44 percent.

Although the national cure rate is only 44 percent, Yuri said, there are areas where the cure rate is above 70 percent.

At least, there are already 13 provinces where the recovery rate is above 70 percent. There are even some that have reached around 86 percent.

“Although, there are provinces where the recovery is only 12-13 percent. This means that we have to look at Indonesia’s accumulated average of all provinces,” he said.

Three provinces with a high percentage of recovery were Bangka Belitung reaching around 86.5 percent. Meanwhile, Yogyakarta and Lampung are above 80 percent.

While the province whose recovery is still low is North Maluku, because positive cases have only emerged in the last two days.

“This means that the hospital occupancy rate has only risen in the last two days. Bangka Belitung in the last two weeks the number of cases added is below 10, even the last few days zero,” he said.

Aside from being still quite far from the global average, Yuri said, compared to other countries the percentage of Indonesia was also still quite far away.

For example, healing in Japan has reached 90 percent and above. The number of cures in Japan is higher because they were first affected by the Covid-19 pandemic compared to Indonesia.

“But countries that have just started like Brazil, the numbers are still below us. That is, the burden of hospital services and public awareness to immediately access care services is the key number (healing),” he said.

Based on data on Wednesday (1/7/2020), patients recovered in Indonesia reached 25,595 people since the Covid-19 case was announced by the government on March 2 last.
