Silao, Guanajuato, September 9, 2020. The Secretariat of Tourism of Guanajuato, through the Coordination of Attention to Specialized Segments, as well as the Adventure, Nature and Culture tour operators of the entity, began training yesterday in the virtual event Sustainable & Social Tourism Summit with the slogan “One new opportunity, a new tourism ”.
This year, Sustainable & Social Tourism Summit created a new space for analysis, training and the exchange of solutions, with the aim of contributing to the reactivation of tourism in the face of the COVID-19 health pandemic.
The state of Guanajuato has a wide tourist offer in the adventure and nature segment, which is divided into the Northwest region, an area where the Sierra Gorda is located; Central Region, Bajío production zone – through which the industrial corridor passes; South Region, area of ​​Craters and Lagoons; and Northeast Region.
In these 4 regions, visitors will be able to make bicycle tours through the streets of Guanajuato Capital, through the hills or along the Camino Real; They will have the opportunity to practice rappelling with a panorama of Guanajuato in the background; there are also activities on horseback, ballooning, ATV activities – in a controlled manner and respecting the environment.
In this sense, the virtual meeting will allow – until today September 9 – the participants to update themselves and learn from specialist speakers from England and Spain of the International Organization for Sustainable Tourism and ICTUR, and the Institute for Tourist Competitiveness.
Some of the topics that are seen in the event are: Taking Responsibility for Tourism, Recovery of destinations based on sustainability, Reorganization of destinations from the crisis, How to strengthen sustainable recovery in tourist destinations ?; New Post COVID Markets, Has Anything Changed? How to take advantage of it?
As well as Will we return to the “old normal” in tourism? Or are there really more opportunities for nature tourism today? How to promote new models of sustainable tourism? Is sustainability, solidarity and social responsibility with COVID over? Or was it reinforced? How to manage alliances with the private sector on issues of sustainable and social tourism? Is technology the solution to the great challenges of sustainable and social tourism?
Nature Tourism is an economic activity that promotes the sustainable use of resources, is a solid alternative for the generation of jobs, and is considered a strategy for the development of communities, as well as a means for the dissemination of natural and cultural heritage of the destinations of Mexico.
