The International Football Federation (FIFA) reported that as a result of a cyber attack, hackers illegally gained access to the organization’s data. A statement by Federation President Gianni Infantino leads the Associated Press.
“FIFA is taking all necessary measures to adequately respond to information security incidents, and continues to consistently improve the protection system for the computer environment,” the organization said.

The Federation does not specify when it happened and what kind of data was stolen. FIFA also stated that they condemn any attempts to illegally violate the confidentiality, integrity and availability of data in any organization.
In 2017, the hacker group Fancy Bears released in open access data about players who legally used dope. FIFA issued an official statement condemning the publication of personal and medical data of athletes obtained illegally.
