Since the first report on 9 July, Beringen has had 47 new infections. These are the latest figures from the Agency for Care & Health, up to and including 27 July, which mayor Vints has at his disposal. And strikingly, about half of the new corona patients are under 30 years old. We see the same in other cities, such as Genk. This means that the second corona wave is very different from the first. At that time, there were many infections in the elderly and in residential care centers. Now it is young people who are affected and who are more likely to pass the virus on to the vulnerable group of elderly people. And that is not a happy prospect.
